Not Accepting New Clients
Licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin, I offer telehealth and in-person appointments to residents in both states, making it easier to connect from wherever you are.
Trying to make a decision about a therapist at a time when you're facing challenges in life can be intimidating and overwhelming. Therapy is usually not the first thing you turn to when life isn’t going as planned. If you’re like most of my clients, you have friends you can talk to, and you’re smart, resourceful, and usually bounce back just fine. But even with everything going for you, there often comes a time when you find yourself stuck in a situation or mindset that you just can’t seem to move out of, even with your most reliable toolkit. Perhaps you’ve realized that now is the time to use your resourcefulness to find a therapist who can help you figure this whole thing out. I commend you for taking this step in finding the right person for you.
I enjoy working with people who have often felt as if they are on the outside and don’t quite fit into any one box. Your unique qualities make you an intriguing and interesting person, but these qualities may also mean that you have difficulty finding your place in a world that values conformity. My passion is helping others fully understand and accept themselves as they are. I firmly believe this place of acceptance gives my clients a better launching pad to make changes they want to make when they are ready to make them.
In addition to 8 years of experience providing psychotherapy and substance use counseling at the largest LGBTQ community health clinic in the Midwest, my prior career involved working in television, radio, advertising, public relations, and the independent music industry. As a publicist at an indie label, I worked closely with musicians to navigate the space between protecting creativity and personal values and the pressures to create a sustainable income and career, and I continue to do this in my clinical work. At my core, I have always been a caretaker and peacemaker, but I understand what it looks like when your good qualities go haywire. My practice specializes in helping individuals who struggle with maintaining healthy boundaries in their relationships and often prioritize others' needs over their own. I am an EMDR-trained therapist with extensive experience working with clients who have complex trauma, and I am also committed to maintaining a neurodiversity-affirming practice. I’m originally from Memphis, TN, and have lived in Athens, GA, and Washington, DC, before settling in Chicago for 15 years. After making great friends in Milwaukee, WI, and falling in love with the area, I decided to move to Wisconsin in late 2021. When I’m not seeing clients, I enjoy planning the next plot in my native plant garden, cooking for friends, or keeping an eye out for what band is coming to town.
While I’m now a Milwaukee convert, I maintain my Chicago connection by keeping my Lakeview office there to see clients in person from time to time. I recently moved into a new office on the ground floor of the Szkola Flats apartment building in Cudahy, right around the corner from Dresden Castle historic events center. My office is located in a renovated classroom of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church School, built in 1958, which is listed on the state register of historic places.
