Wait list for new clients
Trying to make a decision about a therapist at a time when you're having difficulty in life can be intimidating and overwhelming. Therapy is usually not the first thing you try when life is not going as planned. If you’re like most of my clients, you have friends you can talk to and you’re smart, resourceful and usually bounce back just fine. But even with everything going for you, there often comes a time where you are stuck in a situation or a way of thinking you can’t get seem to move out of even with the most reliable toolkit. Perhaps you have realized that now is the time to use your resourcefulness to find a therapist who can work with you to figure this whole thing out. I commend you for taking this step in finding the right person for you.
I enjoy working with people who have often felt as if they are on the outside and don’t quite fit into any one box. Your unique qualities make you an intriguing and interesting person, but these qualities may also mean that you have difficulty finding your place in a world that values conformity. My passion is helping others fully understand and accept themselves as they are. I firmly believe this place of acceptance gives my clients a better launching pad to make changes they want to make when they are ready to make them.
In addition to 8 years of experience providing psychotherapy and substance use counseling at the largest LGBTQ community health clinic in the Midwest, my prior career involved working in television, radio, advertising and public relations. As a publicist at an independent record label, I worked closely with musicians to move between the space of protecting creativity and personal values with pressures to create a sustainable income and career. I grew up in a home of educators and have a passion for helping teachers manage the tremendous amount of stress of the career. My practice specializes in helping creative professionals dealing with work-related stress, those wanting to explore or resolve their substance use issues, lesbian and queer-identified women maneuvering relationships, and trans* and gender non-conforming folks navigating choices about transition.
I'm originally from Memphis, TN and lived in Athens, GA and Washington, DC before landing in Chicago for 15 years. After making great friends in Milwaukee, WI and falling in love with the area, I decided to make move to Wisconsin in late 2021. I am a Milwaukee convert, but I can't give up my Chicago connection and keep my Lakeview office there to connect with clients in-person. My Milwaukee office is in my own adorable neighborhood of Town of Lake/Tippecanoe near Bay View.
